The Phoenix Suns fired head coach Alvin Gentry on Friday, one day after the team fell to 13-28, it's worst first-half record in 25 years.
The Suns officially said they "parted ways" with Gentry, who took over as head coach during the 2009 All-Star break. His final record in Phoenix was 158 wins and 144 losses, with the highlight a trip to the 2010 Western Conference Finals. However, the Suns haven't reached the playoffs since, and after Thursday night's loss to the Bucks, Gentry was fired. An interim coach has not been named, but assistant Elston Turner is one likely candidate.
The Suns owe 1.2 million dollars to Gentry, who was in the final year of his contract. Stay with CineSport for more NBA news.
