The final round of the Humana Challenge was an interesting one for
Brian Gay. The 41-year old started the day six strokes off the lead,
but when the long round was over, Gay was victorious for the fourth
time in his career. Gay birdied nine of the first 13 holes of the
round to put himself back in contention but would par on 18 leaving
the door open for disappointment. The par gave Gay a final round
9-under 63 putting him in a three-way tie for the lead at 25-under.
Gay outlasted Charles Howell III and David Lingmerth to clinch his
first win since 2009 on the second playoff hole. Afterwards Gay spoke
about his triumphant day.
